The Red Team’s modified agility course

March 2, 2009 by Beth · 2 Comments

The Pickens County Biggest Loser Red Team at the City of Jasper Fire Department going through their modified agility course. To me, and I did not participate, but I thought moving the fire truck tire with an 8 pound sledge hammer 24″ was pretty tough.

The modified course was set up that at the starting point, the contestant had to pick up a 35 pound smoke ejector and carry it 50 feet and place it on a wall. Then they ran to the fire truck tire (with no rim) and with an 8 pound sledge hammer, move the tire about 2 feet. Then they ran down to a filled, 150 foot hose weight about 80 pounds and carry that hose up the hill to a cone and then turn on the hose and spray another cone until they knocked it over. Then they ran down to a ‘dummy’ and pulled that dummy about 75 feet to the finish line. They were timed and they all finished the course, Great Job! Many Thanks to the City of Jasper Fire Department from everyone at the Pickens County Biggest Loser.

I am so proud of all the Red Team contestants, Teresa, the motivators and even Bill Mullis and Trena Jones, from the Blue Team. They all went through the modified course and finished! Great Job to all!!!

The Red Team and the City of Jasper Fire Department

March 1, 2009 by Beth · Leave a Comment

On Saturday after the 6th Weigh In, the Red Team met with the City of Jasper to do a modified version of the fire department’s yearly agility test. The fire deparment has to pass this yearly agility test in order to stay a fire fighter. They met with Fire Chief, Steve Roper, Assistant Fire Chief, Von Hedrick, Lt. Scott Brackett and Fire Fighters Treavor Beavers and Nick Pickett. I’m not saying it wasn’t a tough course, it was, but I am very proud to say that every Red Team Contestant, their motivators, Teresa, Teresa’s husband Bill and even Trena, from the Blue Team, went through the agility test and finished!!! I believe the best time for the whole entire course, was Kurt Martin. Congrats Kurt! But everyone was a winner for participating and finishing the course.

Check back later for more picture and video of the competition. Thank you so much to the City of Jasper Fire Department for hosting this competition. It was a lot of fun and what I overheard Teresa say is she hopes to set up another agility competition at the end of the Pickens County Biggest Loser competition to see how much better they all will do after 6 more weeks of serious exercise and body building.
